Scott and Shannon met one snowy night in January 2002. They watched a Red Wing game talking and laughing the night away. They hit it off right away and a few weeks later Shannon knew that Scott was “the one”. “The Big Day” came several years later in 2006 when Scott proposed to Shannon while tailgating at a University of Michigan football game. Everyone knew but her! Scott’s brother Todd and his wife Carrie held onto the ring till the big day. Shannon’s dad Jeff was the first one to see it.
Shannon and Scott wished to “tie the knot” during their 7th year together, so a 2009 date was selected. Scott picked a date he could remember, Halloween, and Shannon ran with the idea of a Masquerade Ball.
Their wedding will take place on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 5:00 in the afternoon. Shannon and Scott will be married at Genoa Woods Executive Conference Center by Mark Freier. Their reception will follow immediately after the ceremony in the Ballroom.
Scott’s Best Man will be his brother Todd Wilhelm. Shannon’s Matron of Honor will be her sister Jeni Johnson. The wedding party will also include: Jennifer Cuartas, Shannon’s childhood friend; Jennifer Johnson, Scott’s sister; Carrie Wilhelm, Scott and Shannon’s Sister-in-Law; Jonathan Marshall, Shannon’s brother; and Chris Johnson, Scott and Shannon’s Brother-in-Law.
The reception will be a Masquerade Ball. All quests are encouraged to wear semi-formal attire or appropriate costumes. All guests will receive an eye mask for the occasion.
The reception will begin promptly at 5:30 in the afternoon with an open beer and wine bar. The bridal party will make their entrance at 6:00 followed by the first dance, toasts, and then dinner at 6:30 pm. Dancing will begin at 7:30 and continue till 11:00 PM. The bar will close at 10:30.
Brighton Michigan is located in Southeast Michigan. It is approximately 45 minutes NW of Detroit Metro Airport. Car rentals and luxury transportation are available at the airport.
A room block will be made at The Courtyard Marriott next door to Genoa Woods. Homewood Suites by Hilton, and a Holiday Inn Express are also within 3 miles of the ceremony and reception location.
